Romesh Gunesekera

Romesh Gunesekera, born in 1954 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, is a Sri Lankan-British novelist known for his literary fiction. He was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 1994 for his debut novel 'Reef,' which tells the story of a young cook in post-colonial Sri Lanka. His other notable works include 'Monsoon' and 'The Sandglass.' Gunesekera's writing explores themes of identity, displacement, and the Sri Lankan diaspora experience. He has received numerous literary awards and fellowships and is considered one of the most important Sri Lankan writers working in English. He lives in London and continues to write novels that illuminate the Sri Lankan experience.
