Biography
Asma al-Assad (born 1975) served as the First Lady of Syria from 2000 to 2024. Born in London to a Syrian family, she was educated at King's College London and worked at JP Morgan before marrying Bashar al-Assad. She was initially seen as a modernizing force but became controversial during the Syrian Civil War.
