Biography
Ahmed Zewail (1946-2016) was an Egyptian-American chemist who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1999 for his work on femtochemistry. Born in Damanhur, he developed techniques using ultrafast laser pulses to observe chemical reactions at the atomic level. He was a professor at Caltech and served as a U.S. Science Envoy to the Middle East.
